If you want to make a necessarily modification, it is possible to install an LED brake light strip. This modification can be done by drilling holes in the stock bracket that comes with the light bar and mounting a flexible strip of LED light bulbs through the holes.
Installing a LED brake light strip is an easy, inexpensive way to get a big safety improvement on your vehicle without having to purchase or remove your stock lights. Learn more about how it works, the different types of LED strips available, and where and how to install them… right here!
Let’s get right into it: Strip is 22-inches long and made of heavy-duty, 3/4-inch-wide flexible vinyl and can be cut with a scissors or razor knife. It attaches to the inside of your existing tail lights using suction cups and is designed to work with both stock and aftermarket lights.
Identify your vehicle type
Before you get started, you need to identify what kind of vehicle you’re working with. Then you can figure out how to install the strip. For example, if your vehicle is a compact or subcompact, you’ll need a shorter strip than if it’s a full-sized car. You may also need a different connection method, like a wire harness or power harness, depending on the make and model of your car.
Choose the appropriate brake light LED strip
With all of the different colors and styles available today, choosing the right brake light LED strip for your vehicle can be a bit confusing. The key to finding the right brake light LED strip is to make sure that the color you choose matches the color of the brake lights on your vehicle. For example, if you have a silver colored brake light, a red brake light LED strip may not look the best.
Second is the LED strip working mode:
Multi Mode Third Brake Light
The width lamp is off ( Daytime mode ): When braking, the high brake light strip flashing for three times, then turn to high bright red light. After releasing the brake, there is no light.
The width lamp is on ( Night mode ): the LED brake light bar will keep shining flowing for 8 seconds and then keep low-bight red light. When braking, the brake light strip will be shining for 2 seconds, then keep high-bight red light. When driving, the third brake light strip will keep low-bright red light.
Single Mode Third Brake Light
When braking, high-bright red light; After releasing the brake, there is no light.
Cut the brake light LED strip to length
Next, cut the brake light LED strip to length. This is done by cutting off about 1/2 inch (1.3 cm) of each end of the strip. Now, thread each piece of cut wire through the hole in the washer, then push each piece of wire back through the hole in the nut and tighten it down with your wrench. You’ll want to do this until the strip is taut and you can no longer pull it apart. If you don’t have a working knowledge of electrical stuff, just keep tightening and checking the strip until it’s the right length for you.
Connect the strip
To install, just cut the wires off the end and slide the LED strip into place. The LED strip contains two wires that run from the tail lights to the back of the headlight. When the tail lights are turned on, the LED strip turns on the backlights as well. If you don’t have a spare pair of tail lights or want to make sure your LED lights are visible, then it’s time to install a LED brake light strip.
Conclusion:
In conclusion, I want to show you how to easily add an extra element of safety to your vehicle by installing a simple LED brake light strip. This low cost (less than $5 per strip) and easy-to-install upgrade will significantly increase the safety of your vehicle. Let’s get started!
